Thank you so much for stopping by! I am so happy you're here.
I’m Johnna; the owner, designer and founder of Twila & Co., currently based out of Colorado but a Virginia girl at heart. I am a creative, a paper goods nerd, lover of french fries and sweet tea, a music enthusiast and an avid beachgoer. With our recent move to Colorado, I have started falling in love with the mountains as well (but I’ll always be a beach girl at heart!). If I’m not working, you can find me spending time with my husband, Joe, and our sweet pupperoo, Grohl (or Grohly Poly Oly).
I graduated from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia with a degree in Marketing and a minor in studio art. In all honesty, the only reason I didn’t major in Art was because business seemed more practical at the time! I specialized in painting and even studied art in Italy while in college. On that trip is where I purchased my first set of watercolor paints, and I still have them and use them today. My favorite green that is used in all of my maps is from that palette and one day I hope to make it back to that little art shop to stock up on more.
Amongst my friends, I was always known for having many different hand writings at any given time. Or making notes in class with different colored markers and ‘fonts.’ And now, it still baffles me that I took this hobby and was able to turn it into more.
Last year, I got married to the love and goof of my life, Joe. Our story is a bit different than most. Over 10 years ago, Joe had a disease called PVNS, which caused tiny tumors to grow in his ankle, eat away at his cartilage and cause severe arthritis, making it extremely hard for him to walk. In June of 2014, after much deliberation and thought, he decided to have his left foot amputated.
This experience continues to be a life-changing and strengthening endeavor. Despite the challenges and setbacks (including five additional surgeries), we continue to move forward in hopes that our story will inspire someone else. In the winter of 2018, Joe had the amazing opportunity to travel and train with Adaptive Action Sports in Colorado as a Professional Snowboarder. He decided to do it again for the 2019 Winter season… and on…Which is why we moved our lives from Virginia to Colorado this summer. You can read more about our journey on the blog.
When we’re not running around like total crazies, we love playing with our pup, traveling, embarking on grand adventures, and spending time with each other and our wonderful families. Our lives are certainly never boring!
