It's A Wonderful Life Styled Shoot

Just say the word and I'll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey. That's a pretty good idea. I'll give you the moon, Mary.

Definitely one of my favorite lines from a Christmas movie. And if you know me, you know I LOVE Christmas, like REALLY love Christmas, so when I was asked to participate in an ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ inspired styled shoot, we all knew my answer!

Ashley Link of Virginia Ashley Photography did an amazing job putting this together and taking gorgeous photos. I am just in awe and it makes me love Christmas even more and want to do MORE Christmas styled shoots!

And with that, enjoy the photos! I’m going to go enjoy come Colorado Snow.

Halloween Styled Shoots

My obsession with scary movies and haunted things came when I was little. Starting with reading Goosebumps books and watching the VHS’s with my brother growing up, to spending summers picking out old school horror films at the video store to watch with my siblings, to now watching pretty much anything scary I can get my hands on…when Joey’s not around hahaha.

So last year, when I was asked to be a part of a styled shoot that was very out of the ordinary and also involved one of my favorite things, I obviously couldn’t say no. However, the photos came out a little too late to post last year so I’ve had to wait a whole year to share them with you! And I’m SO STOKED.

This styled shoot came to life by Christina Moore and they are masterminds. I honestly had no idea that the photos were gonna be so elegantly haunting, if that’s even a thing. I just love how different these are, how representative they are of each cult classic, and how beautiful they turned out.

A huge thanks to the team for bringing me into this shoot and to everyone involved and encouraging me to do something different. From the Poltergeist label invitation on a VHS to the deckled and ripped edges for the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I love seeing it all come together.

My First Styled Shoot...Ever

In honor of both Flashback Friday AND the official start of Football season, today's blog is featuring my very first styled shoot: a JMU Football Tailgate.

I remember when I was approached about my first styled shoot. It was three years ago and honestly, I was a little skeptical. If you didn't know, I used to have an online e-publication called Twila that featured articles from bloggers and industry professionals, stories, and styled shoots and a lot of other fun things. Unfortunately, it took up too much time for not enough money when I started going full time into my business and after 10 issues, I stopped. But boy was it fun! I still miss it.

Anyways...when first approached about this first styled shoot for the magazine, I didn't know why would people want to participate. Who would want to work with me and donate things or spend their Saturdays with us? This was before the whole 'Community Over Competition' thing started and before the creative industry was so supportive and before Styled Shoots became the norm. I was so surprised when everyone involved said yes and couldn't wait for the chance to work with these people.

And still 3 years later, I absolutely love these photos and this is still hands down one of my favorite shoots. We had so many people there that day to make it happen and it was so much fun. We actually ate the food and drank the beer and played the games. It was more of a party than a styled shoot.

One day, I'd love to do another shoot like this where it's more of a fun party and less of a styled much more character and liveliness. Want in?? Let's do it.

So Happy Flashback Friday and Happy Football Season! I can't think of a better styled shoot to feature to celebrate football and fall. Have a great weekend, ya'll!

Modern DC Lush Spring Shoot

Happy Friday, Ya'll!

Oh have I got a gorgeous styled shoot for you today! It can be a little crazy sometimes with how styled shoots work, and even weddings. As an invitation designer and paper goods...person? I hand off my work to some one else and essentially just hope for the best. And this shoot....this shoot I got just that.

I've been waiting to see these photos for months as the shoot was done back in March. We are finally getting the photos back and I am just beside myself at how beautiful they are.

This is my second styled shoot with Birds of a Feather Photography, and it's my second time being featured with them. This one was featured on Wedding Chicks last week. This vintage, bold, lush shoot is a dream. It's a gorgeous mix of old and new and uses just the right colors. Not to mention, it's actually a 10-year Vow Renewal for the couple in the photos! How sweet is that!

And a huge thank you to Birds of a Feather Photography for including me in the shoot! You're always a pleasure to work with.

Cheers to a gorgeous styled shoot, bold colors, that it's finally Friday, and that we don't sweat our faces off this weekend!

Sincerely Pete Brand Styled Shoot

Over the past few months, I've had the pleasure of getting to know Sarah of Sincerely Pete Events. She's just a doll and she's so much fun to work with. So when she asked me to come up to Georgetown to help with her branding styled shoot, of course I said yes! I couldn't wait. So Morgan and I headed up north to help. We had such a fun day working with Sarah and Amanda of Plume Photography.

I have helped Hope with my styled photos before, but this was my first time actually styling things for the photos and I had SO MUCH FUN! I am a HUGE advocate for styled photos. Whether ones you've purchased from great resources like SC Stockshop or get ones that match your brand, it makes your online and social media presence just click. It helps bring a cohesive look and feel to your brand.

I believe in it SO MUCH SO that next month, I'm changing our branding packages to include custom stock photos! So when you purchase a full brand package, I style photos that match your brand and provide custom photos to you to use on all of your social media. AND I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT IT! I mean, here you spend all this money on a new brand, but then what do you post to social media other than shots of your logo or style guide?! Stock photos are such a great tool to get started with and I wish I had them when I first got started.

So without further ado, check out these great photos from Amanda for Sarah's brand! Thank you so much for letting us join you for such a fun afternoon.
